Explanation
Pakistan officially joined SEATO in 1954, becoming part of the regional defense alliance aimed at preventing Communist expansion. Although SEATO was primarily focused on Southeast Asia, Pakistan was included despite not being geographically located in that region. The treaty was signed in September 1954 and came into effect on February 19, 1955, with Pakistan among the founding members alongside countries such as Australia, France, Great Britain, New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand, and the United States. SEATO remained active until it was dissolved on June 30, 1977.
